Bordered along the whole of its west coast by the Atlantic Ocean, Aquitaine mild oceanic microclimate makes it and ideal holiday destination. The coast also offers Europe’s biggest beach of fine sand. The coast offers activities such as surfing and sailing, and also cycling, with a massive network of cycling tracks.
Along the coast there are pretty harbours and seaside resorts, from the beaches of the Médoc in the north to those of the Basque Coast.
The ancient cultural ties in Aquitaine reach right back to prehistoric times, and the area was one of the last to actively use the Basque language.

For wine connoisseurs, you can explore the winegrowing territories of Aquitaine including the city of Bordeaux included on the UNESCO World Heritage. Aquitaine is the biggest region of fine wines in the world!
The Dordogne region of Aquitaine is located between the Pyrenees and the Loire Valley, making it the perfect area for visiting wider parts of the region. There are plenty of attractions for holidaymakers in the region, and the food and drink culture is of a very high standard.
Lot et Garonne
This region contains great tourist destinations such as Agen, Marmande and Duras, so is a great place to stay if you are interested in the history of the area. Less touristic than other regions in France, Lot et Garonne is perfect for exploring the smaller village lifestyle of Western France.
Pyrénées-Atlantiques
Heavily linked with Spain historically, this area provides a fantastic melange of cultural roots; from ancient France to Spanish influences, the region is steeped in history just waiting to be discovered by families and couples alike.
Landes
Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Landes is a lovely rural department in southern France. Its beaches, forests and rolling green hills make this region popular with many dieffernt types of holidaymakers, from activity seekers to those looking to relax in verdant green surroundings.
Gironde
Located at the meeting point of the rivers Dordogne and Garonne, Gironde has long been a popular tourist region thanks to its mild climate and extravagant scenery.
