Welcome to Croft Holidays in the Cairngorms, Scotland
Croft Holidays is delighted to offer you three adjacent cottages. These cottages, in the peaceful crofting area of Strone, are around 10 minutes walk from the shops and pubs in Newtonmore - which has retained the character of a traditional village of the Scottish Highlands. Guests regularly comment on the stunning views across the valley of the Spey, and how they enjoy watching the birds and abundant wildlife from the windows.
Enquiries from individuals or groups up to 11 people are welcome. Each cottage sleeps up to 3 or 4; but 2 or 3 cottages can be booked together for larger groups; barn and loft have an interconnecting door. Short and long stays possible. Each cottage has its own living/ dining/ kitchen room, shower room and bedroom. Facilities include good mobile reception, free wifi, use of shared garden, washing machine and drying room. Loft and Barn cottages have consistently been graded at 3* by Visit Scotland (2007-12) and Wyndham vacation rentals (2013-17).
The highland village of Newtonmore is situated virtually exactly in the centre of Scotland, so is a good area to stay to tour Inverness and Loch Ness, Fort William, Ben Nevis and the Scottish islands to the west. The village nestles between the Monadhliath and Cairngorm mountain ranges and Newtonmore is part of the Cairngorms National Park. It is an area of outstanding beauty with an abundance of lochs and mountains and an ever changing panorama.
The cottages are well suited for those wanting a wildlife or activity holiday based in the Cairngorms National park. Activities provided locally include mountain biking at Laggan Wolftrax and elsewhere, road cycling, walking, climbing, kayaking, skiing, gliding, golfing, fishing, sailing, horse riding and much else besides. The area is also good for photography and artistic activities, and you can book introductory glass fusing classes at the cottages.
Our area, Badenoch and Strathspey, was the location for the bbc tv series 'Monarch of the Glen' - filming of the seventh series ended in July 2005.
