In local folklore, the Devil’s Pulpit was where Satan himself preached to the Monks below, to convert them to his order. More recently, this picturesque attraction was used in a scene in Outlander, where Dougal uses the “Truth-inducing Waters” to make sure he believed and trusted Claire. The limestone structures create a dense, foreboding atmosphere in the dappled light, and despite a steep walk up, it is very relaxing and idyllic.
