Morton House and The Stable Block, Masham, North Yorkshire

Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, Masham is a market town with a long history dating back to the Doomsday Book.

Morton House and the Stable Block is located in town, in walking distance to pubs, cafes, galleries, the square and of course Masham's two breweries. You have beautiful walking trails and cycling from the door and come back to relax in our characterful accommodation, with comfy beds, large farmhouse kitchen to refuel your family and friends, large flat screen TV’s to enjoy a movie and log burning stove to warm up in the winter months.

Our property is open all year. Preferred arrival days are Monday and Friday. Each property is completely self-contained and can be taken on its own, or the entire 7brm property together makes it a brilliant option for extended families and groups. Grade II listed Morton House was sensitively renovated in 2008 with your comfort in mind. It faces Park Street and The Stable Block is a Victorian addition - forming the long part of an ‘L’ shape to the entire property. There is a private, walled courtyard garden with a great aspect to catch the sun for summer BBQ’s and relaxing.

Morton House – 4 brms – sleeps up to 9

The ground floor has 2 reception rooms and a large farmhouse style kitchen/diner with a lobby for coats and muddy boots and utility area with washing machine/dryer and downstairs loo. The TV room has a wood burning stove for use in the winter (first basket of logs/kindling/firelighters provided), large flat screen Smart TV with sky package and comfy sofas for relaxing after a day of exploring. The 2nd reception room has a more oldy worldly feel with its Chesterfield sofas and open fire. In the kitchen you will find everything you need to cater for all your loved ones including microwave, dishwasher, 7 burner range cooker and double electric ovens, pots, pans crockery – it’s all here.

Up the stone stairs to the first floor you will find 3 bedrooms and the house bathroom – to the front of the house the ‘Gold’ room with its super-king size bed and the ‘Princess’ room with its high double bed (across the hall from the house bathroom) – and to the rear of the property the twin bedroom with en-suite shower/wc.

Up again you will find the loft master suite which runs the full width of the house - with a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom/wc and also a single day bed. This is a haven to escape to under the old beams which would once have had a thatched roof.

The property is centrally heated throughout.

The Stable Block – 3 brms – sleeps up to 6

Attached at the rear of Morton House is The 3brm Stable Block. This was completely converted in 2007 to the cosy accommodation it is today. Suited to guests with limited mobility the ground floor has no internal steps and underfloor heating. The open plan space opens from the patio doors into the living area with flat screen TV (with sky package) and comfy seating. There is a 6 seater dining table and kitchen with oven/hob/microwave and all you need to self-cater. The bedroom has a double bed with wet-room style en-suite shower/wc.

Upstairs, under the beamed sloping ceiling, you will find a kingsize bedroom and a single bedroom (with pull out to make a small twin if required) with a 2nd shower/wc.

The Town of Masham

Our community is a vibrant one and at any time of the year there is something going on to engage with ... whether it’s a Beer Festival or Steam Rally or Sheep Fair ... you will find plenty of Yorkshire hospitality here. Our market square is one of the largest in the country and has hosted a bi-weekly market on Wednesday and Saturdays for hundreds of years. The very pretty St Marys Church on the far side of the square offers a quiet place for reflection and the graveyard is an interesting place to wander with lots of history. The two breweries in town, The Black Sheep and the Theakstons both offer visitors tours, tastings and an opportunity to rub shoulders with the locals who will usually be up for a bit of a chat and banter. Our local cafes offer an array of local produce and for more fine dining the pubs and Vennells Restaurant will not disappoint. Just 1 mile up the road you will find the Swinton Estate with its Country Club Spa and Golf Course.
 

A great base to explore Ripon, Harrogate, Leeds, York – the Yorkshire Dales and Moors. Whatever the season, there are beautiful views and historic places to be found and explore.
