South top's preferred upper flat situation  commands ever changing scenic views from all windows. The upper cottage apartment has its own private entrance and  a small outdoor space for sitting. It is situated in the village of Kilmun on the picturesque shores of The Holy Loch. The area is within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park particularly noted for its flocks of waders, ducks and seabirds including visiting gannets who can all be observed close by. Red squirrels and deer have also been spotted by our guests. The views from every window allow you to experience the diversity of the area and stunning sunsets from the comfort of Southtop, your home from home;

Well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement with the owner.

The apartment offers guests comfort regardless of weather with its controlled electric heating which you can easily adjust to suit your needs. Free Wifi is available throughout the apartment for you to keep in touch with family and friends, share your experiences as well as providing assistance in planning your local trips.

The comfortable, cosy lounge has a TV/DVD player with Freeview channels and a selection of  books to help you unwind after a busy day exploring the area. You could also just chill by looking out at the loch/river views from the picture window. We provide binoculars to enhance your experience of watching the local wildlife and yachts in more detail.

The heated bathroom is decorated in attractive wet wall and has a good sized shower enclosure with electric shower. Quality fluffy white towels are also provided for your comfort.

The bright, comfortable  bedroom has ample storage, high quality bedding. There is also a selection of fiction and non fiction books for you to sample.The picturesque view of Paradise Bay from the window will also help you to relax at the end of a busy day or greet you in the morning as you awake refreshed after a relaxing sleep. A travel cot is available if required. 

The  kitchen is well equipped with everything you should need for your stay with the added bonus of relaxed dining whilst enjoying the ever changing loch and river vistas from the large bright window. 

There is a small pebbled area with attractive planters at the foot of the stairs. We also have a table and chairs set out for you to relax outdoors if you wish.

The surrounding area is easily accessible by ferry or car and a lot of guests have left information and comments on the day trips they have enjoyed. Benmore Gardens is twenty minutes away and seems to be very popular. There are lots of things to do and see around Scotlands Secret  Coast and many have felt the week is not enough and have returned. Just behind Southtop is a path which enables you to take in the Clyde Estuary and beyond; You can also walk to nearby Strone or Blairmore for a coffee and/or cake. The apartment is cleaned thoroughly between visits.

 Attractions and activities nearby

Staying in the Cowal Peninsula allows you access to stunning mountains, lochs, forests and glens with a wide range of activities to suit almost everyone. These include walking, cycling, fishing, sailing, golfing bird and wildlife watching, photography and quad biking. There are also a hosts of other active pursuits on your doorstep.

For more relaxing days out there are a number of attractions which are a short car and/or ferry journey away. these include Benmore Botanic Gardens (with their giant Redwood trees), Inveraray Castle, Mount Stuart House, Kyles of Bute or any of the nearby lochs which are diverse and interesting. There are also many opportunities to discover the delights of the river Clyde by taking a boat trip around various scenic locations in Argyll, Bute or Ayrshire.

As Southtop is within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and nearby Loch Lomond is well worth a visit. 

During the year there are usually many Gala Days,  Highland Gatherings and musical events throughout the region and these are  worth visiting. There is also a thriving Arts and Crafts culture for you to enjoy and perhaps purchase unique souvenirs of your trip.

The famous Cowal Games is a must see and is held in Dunoon each year at the end of August .This year it was  cancelled due to Covid. Dunoon nearby also  provides transport links to Glasgow and onward to Edinburgh for cultural or shopping trips or, if you are an early riser, a ferry trip to Arran is also well worth the effort.

Southtop is available for full weeks, and short breaks of 3 or 4 nights may be facilitated at off peak times.
