 18th Century Farmhouse

Sir Bourchier and Lady Caroline Wrey’s home was built in 1740 by the Wrey family who lived on a large estate locally; the family arrived in Tawstock, from St Ives in Cornwall in 1640 when the Wreys married Lady Anne Bourchier from a very old Norman family who came over in 1066. Sir Bourchier is the 16th baronet and has 2 sons and a daughter.

George runs a property company and a private shoot, while Caroline is an interior designer and presently teaches dyslexic children and runs the livery yard.

Pink Room
This bedroom is in a beautifully converted barn, where the heavy, plough horses used to live. Its sloping eves and partial stone wall lend themselves to creating a very special atmosphere. It has a dedicated front door and staircase, surrounded by climbing roses; it has its own sitting area and en suite bathroom. Classic meets contemporary in terms of the antique furniture, paintings and damask verses Ikea pieces, contemporary paintings together with modern fabrics; a glorious result. The room looks south over a very pretty, walled-garden.

Yellow Room
This pretty bedroom nestles in the main house on the first floor, with a charming, dedicated blue and white bathroom next door with an antique fireplace.

Twin Room
A cosy warm, west-facing bedroom with pretty pale yellow and pink chintz curtains on a pair of brass swing arms. The room is furnished with antique, mahogany furniture, 2 mirrors, and many brass hooks on the back of the door. There is also an eclectic group of charming prints. Bathroom opposite bathroom door (one pace). This room is perfect for children.

All beds in house have electric blankets.

Stables
We provide a large stable for your horse or pony with bedding and hay (to order) if desired. Unlimited grazing and lockable tack room are also available.
